WISDOM
Mystery and Wisdom Schools
In ancient times wisdom schools were found in all parts of the known
world: Atlantis, Egypt, Greece, Italy, the British Isles, Palestine,
Tibet, and India, among others. We refer to them as mystery schools,
not because what they taught was so mysterious but because it was
known only to initiates. You were chosen to join a mystery school
and to advance through its teachings, being initiated after
completing each level by those with the highest degrees of knowledge
and applications of universal law. Understanding and applying these
laws was a sacred task, and most who achieved such levels of wisdom
were the priests, shamans, and scholars of their time.
In our own time, the Rosicrucian Order,
www.rosicrucian.org, has
retained and still teaches much of the material and traditions of
the ancient mystery schools. The Masonic Order has many of the
traditions but unfortunately has lost much of its knowledge in the
past few centuries.
Nowadays, in an era where the internet has leveled the playing field
and a wealth of information (not all of it accurate!) is available
with the click of a mouse, I prefer the term Wisdom School. Most of
us on the spiritual path hope for wisdom, and it comes to us in
varying degrees through intention, reflection, understanding, and
experience.
I call my wisdom school the Diamond of Light Wisdom School because
Diamond of Light is my spiritual name. Each of us has a spiritual
name, which we may learn at the appropriate time. |
